Congratulations to Buderim Ginger as the recipient of the Queensland Business History Award for 2019

The Queensland Business History Award recognises leadership in collecting, preserving and sharing business history. The annual award encourages businesses and business leaders to elevate the importance of safeguarding their irreplaceable historical material.

In 1941 a small group of Buderim farmers met in an old blacksmith’s workshop to discuss the worldwide ginger shortage brought on by the Second World War. The Buderim Ginger Growers Co-operative Association Limited was formed, signalling the start of an iconic Australian brand that now sells its products to 17 countries.

In 1985 Buderim Ginger opened the Ginger Factory which remains the only tourist attraction located in a working ginger factory. Through guided tours, displays and presentations, Buderim Ginger has created a variety of experiences for the public to learn about the history of the company and Queensland ginger farming.

The company, now based in Yandina, is a multi-million-dollar Australian success story that recognises the value and significance of its past.

Congratulations to Buderim Ginger on preserving and promoting their corporate history for the world to enjoy.
