Congratulations to Rosenlund Contractors as the recipient of the Queensland Business History Award for 2018

The Queensland Business History Award recognises leadership in collecting, preserving and sharing business history. The annual award encourages businesses and business leaders to elevate the importance of safeguarding their irreplaceable historical material.

In 1963 a registered builder by the name of Alex Rosenlund started A.C. & E Rosenlund with a single backhoe. His two sons joined the business in the 1970s as the business expanded and embraced innovation and change within the demolition industry. Over 50 years on, the Queensland firm remains a well-known part of the building and construction industry.

Rosenlund Contractors has demonstrated its commitment to historical preservation with an impressive digitised archive of more than 100,000 photos and videos. This collection represents significant historical fact around Brisbane’s changing landscape and architecture, and is a momentous achievement in digital preservation.

By making the collection freely available via its website, Rosenlund Contractors has ensured this important historical record of Brisbane’s development is discoverable for all.

Preserving business records helps co-create Queensland’s memory for future generations and State Library of Queensland encourages all businesses to get on board.
